Sam I Am (NOT)

July 9th, 2008

The reason I am so late with the blah-g tonight is that I was hoping for an interview from Sam, the awesome actress who plays Alicia in the Clique movie. I sent her the questions and am still waiting for her to send her answers back. I have no doubt that she’s crazy busy and that she’ll send them eventually but I didn’t want to keep you waiting for one more second. If I get her answers in the next day or two I’ll post them as a bonus Blah-g. How’s that for fair?

In the meantime I’ll tell you about my day yesterday. So the ABC show Nightline came out to Laguna Beach to interview me. Well, actually, the show didn’t come that would be impossible wouldn’t it? The host, Terry Moran came with two cameras and a lot of lights. No hair and makeup person though which was a bit of a bummer. Anyway he interviewed me for an hour. OMG! It was intense. Most of his questions had to do with the Clique books and how some parents think they are a bad influence on girls. Come awn! He was very nice and I liked him a lot but don’t think I didn’t set him straight, BIG TIME. I told him a buh-illion times that you guys know these books are making fun of shallow mean people and that you know the girls in the PC aren’t examples of how TO behave. And by the end I think he finally got the message. After the interview we went to Laguna Beach Books for an AH-MAZING book signing. There were over 150 girls there. It was a blast. The best part is Terry (the very nice but doubting host) interviewed a bunch of the fans and each one backed me up. They all said they knew the girls in the books act mean because they’re insecure and blah blah blah…why am I telling you? You know this. I’m not sure when it will air but I’ll let you know as soon as they tell me. Oh, I did learn a cool trick…if you have frizzy or flyaway hair (a given if you live near the ocean) get some toilet paper, spritz some hairspray on it, then rub it gently on your hair as if you were combing it. In seconds your flyaways will be more over than Madonna and Guy :(

TTYW (or sooner if I get the Sam interview)

Heart you guys!

SAM I AM!!!!!!! (BONUS BLAH-G)

July 10th, 2008

I got the goods! Sam delivered just like she promised. Here is her interview and fab photo of her being all Alicia-ish. sam-as-alicia.jpg DESCRIBE YOURSELF IN ONE WORD.

hmmmmmm. Spunky!

WHAT ACTING EXPERIENCE DID YOU HAVE PRIOR TO THE CLIQUE?

I’ve been doing commercials since I was nine, I filmed a movie called The Perfect Game which comes out in August, and I took many acting classes, and still do so I can keep improving.

WERE YOU A FAN OF THE SERIES BEFORE YOU GOT THE PART? IF SO WHICH CHARACTER DID YOU RELATE TO THE MOST?

It’s funny because about a week before I got called to audition, my friend Lindsey was like “Oh my gosh Sam you have to read these Clique books! They’re so good!”. So when I got called to audition for The Clique I was super excited and I called Lindsey and I was like “Tell me everything about the books!”. But now I’ve read them all and I’m actually reading them again because I’m addicted. I’d say I relate to Alicia the most, not just because I play her, but because we have a lot of things in common such as we’re both dancers, we both have Schwinn bikes, and we both love gossip and fashion! haha.

WHAT DID YOU DO TO PREPARE FOR ALICIA?

I read the books to learn every detail about her from the way she thinks, to the way she talks, and to the way she walks. I watched movies such as Mean Girls to get some inspiration, and I met with my acting coach to get some pointers.

WHICH WAS YOUR FAVORITE SCENE TO DO? LEAST FAVORITE?

Oh Gosh! There is so many to choose from. One of my favorite scenes was the pool scene. I was a little nervous at first because we only had one take to jump in the pool and it had to be perfect. But we pulled it off and we go to play around in the pool after. It was so much fun! My least favorite scenes would have to be when we are walking outside because it was freeeezing cold, and sometimes we were only wearing skirts with tights. Brrrrrrrrrrr!

DID YOU AND THE OTHER CAST MEMBERS HAVE ANY INSIDE JOKES OR MAKE UP ANY NEW EXPRESSIONS? CAN YOU SHARE ONE (EVEN IF IT WAS AN HTBT- HAD TO BE THERE)

Haha if I told you they wouldn’t be inside anymore. Ok ok of course I’ll tell you! One is Ugly Baby, which you will probably see a lot of in special features. We made up over 20 “Ugly Babies”, and I laugh every time I think about it. We all had separate handshakes with each other too. And everyone always tried to figure out what Bridget and I say while we do our handshake, but they still can’t figure it out! Also, one night we were all in Ellen’s room playing Mexican Train and we were trying to make up new “Massie Jokes”, and I came up with this infamous one, “Are you from a bird’s butt? Then why are you acting like such a turd!?”

WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING NOW THAT THE SHOOT IS OVER?

I’ve been keeping busy by going on auditions, filming a couple commercials, doing some photo shoots, and I’m counting down the days until we go back and film Clique 2.

HAS YOUR LIFE CHANGED?

My life hasn’t really changed. The only thing that’s different is I’ve gained a little more fans and I’ve met new people. But I still feel the same, very blessed.

DID YOU GET TO KEEP ANY OF THE AH-MAZING WARDROBE?

I WISH! Unfortunately we didn’t get to keep the clothes. The only thing I got to keep were these super cute earrings I wear in the pool scene, and a Briarwood hat.

ANYTHING TO SAY TO CLIQUE FANS?

Thanks for all the cool fan sites you guys have made, they’re awesome!

The movie was so much fun to make, and I hope you guys enjoy it as much as we loved making it.

DREAM BIG, and remember, as I always do, that the key to success is following God’s guidance.
